Who we are
We are a family business. Small, team-focussed, serviced property professionals. My mother and godmother ran the Barons as a business as young women in the 1950s and I was brought up in a world of property talk, tenancy discussions and plans and ideas for the future. Our family was and is strongly embedded in the local community and The Barons was my home as a child. I love the Barons and this amazing slice of London. My partner Jason and I started the business a decade ago, both turning our backs on media careers to work in a business that has meaning and would forge a future for us and our children. And a business that we could grow and nurture and be proud of. We started with three apartments and now, with a growing portfolio of apartments that we manage for other owners, we have ten and expect the number to rise over the next year alone to 12.
What we do
I have been the face of the Barons now for a decade and I love being able to welcome guests to such a special collection of apartments. We take pride in putting our heart and soul into our serviced apartments and our aim is to ensure that our guests feel at home from the moment they arrive.
Our business is all about people. Our guests and our team. Our team is the life force behind what we do. My role is marketing, agent and guest liaison and overseeing housekeeping and bookings. Jason is in charge of maintenance and making sure that our tech’, Wifi and TV is reliable, responsive and up to your standards. Vicki, our Housekeeping manager organises our cleaning schedules and our team and is the Queen of decluttering. Our Housekeeper Magda has been with us almost since the start and she works with Vicki and Elaine to keep us squeaky clean. Magda’s coffees are wonderful and she’s taught me to love black coffee, because she always forgets to buy milk for me. She’s the friendly face you’ll see for weekly cleans (and the best spider-catcher) and the figure you’ll meet in the street taking her beloved Jackapoo dog Bobo, the real boss of the Barons, for a walk. Emma runs accounts, Moira is our eagle-eyed book-keeper, and Mark and Gerald and Steve look after our gorgeous garden and humour me as I obsess about bindweed in the garden.
Why we’re different.
We travelled extensively before settling down and having a family. We slummed it and we did 7 star and we fully understand what the best hospitality should be – and that’s what we strive for. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile to make your stay the best it can be, by accommodating your requirements wherever we can. From first contact we can make sure that the apartment is set up for your specific needs so that you arrive to a ‘home’ rather than a stopgap. We are flexible about check-in and checkout times to suit your travel and work plans. We can liaise with you to arrange weekly housekeeping timings so that they work for you. We really try our hardest to fit around your way of living. Whether you are with us for a romantic break, an exciting work opportunity or a family holiday, we know you need us to understand your schedules and that they can change. We aim to be creative, reactive when necessary, and collaborative – without being intrusive. Discretion is always guaranteed.
We’re also different because we are professional serviced apartment owners. What that means is that you know we’re safe. We are accredited with ASAP, Visit England and Common Sense Compliance. That means that we are serious about your safety. You are insured, you are in an apartment that has had fire safety, electrical, gas, Legionella, asbestos and microwave checks. You can trust that we are following the latest health and safety guidelines and that we know how to clean safely and thoroughly. Our staff are all DBS checked and insured and thoroughly trained.
Small is beautiful in the serviced apartment world. Small means accountable. It means we have to do our job properly because this is not a faceless building with a reception desk and no managers to talk to. You have our phone numbers for any questions or queries and you’ll see us around the premises doing the cleaning and gardening and upkeep. We answer queries immediately and we communicate swiftly with speedy solutions. We love to share our love of London and our locality and give you our recommendations and tips and help you make your trip work better. We don’t just want you to sleep well at night, we want to be able to sleep well too – knowing you are safe and happy in your new home. We know that whether you are with us for a much longed-for family visit or a relocation, your home base is vital.
